Oaxaca Old Fashioned by Death & Co.
When I first tasted mezcal, tequila’s smoky sibling, I was immediately turned off. Much in the same way I feel about a peaty Scotch, mezcal’s smoke characteristic gave me ash-in-my-mouth vibes. This was back when mezcal didn’t proliferate back bars and store shelves and one of the only commercial products available came from Del Maguey (presumably named for the agave plant of the same name).
