Monte Rio Cellars 2023 Misson ‘Somers’ (Lodi, CA), $24
I love drinking wine like this in summertime. It has depth, character, bright fruit, mellow notes, and a dry finish. It goes well with food — I had it with both a burger and fries and then salmon with roasted vegetables the next night. In summer, I generally lean toward dry, crisp rosé or white wine of a similar ilk. Sometimes I go for a fuller-bodied white (more on that to come) and sometimes I crave a light-bodied chillable red like this (also more on that to come).
